Sure-Fit, now incorporated as Autoscope, commenced business in downtown Washington, DC on March 28,1946 by its founder Charles M. Levinson. At that time its principal business was the manufacture and installation of auto seat covers and convertible tops. By 1961 Sure-Fit opened 3 additional stores, one in Arlington, VA. and operated by Bob Singer, one in Takoma Park and one in Rockville, MD. Another store was opened in 1962 in NE Washington. At that time the company expanded its services to include tires, auto tape players, brakes, mufflers and exhaust systems; with 35 employees who installed $888,983 worth of automotive product.

Charles' daughter Lois, later to become Lois Levinson-Reaney, began career at Sure-Fit in 1966. In 1975 Lois became vice president, and Bob Singer became Secretary-Treasurer and retired in 2000. In June 1986 Sure-Fit entered into the electric sunroof business, this began the evolution from just an upholstery and convertible top shop into a restyling center, this division is directed by Thomas Reaney.

On January 1,1992 Lois was elected President of the company and Thomas was elected Vice President. By this time Sure-Fit sold or closed all of its locations except the one located 3298 B Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA. The Officers of the company were determined to concentrate on new products (such as leather kits, sunroofs, auto entertainment centers, navigation systems, and gold kits) and magnify its efforts to obtain more business as an aftermarket restyling center, concentrating our sales staff on the more than 250 dealers in the Washington Metropolitan area.

By the end of 1995 Sure-Fit has become a multi-million dollar company which employed about 25 technicians, trimmers and salespeople, and is always on the lookout for new products and ideas to better serve its distinctly different dealer-oriented markets. In 1998 Danna Dalton, Manager came aboard to join Sure-Fit. Danna quickly moved to being the General Manager due to his expertise in our industry. He is a master of upholstery and a ďjack of all tradesĒperson. His knowledge and skill is what keeps our shop with a high quality of workmanship. Whether itís interfacing electronics into a new vehicleor customizing a show car he seems to be the one with the knowledge. With Sure-Fitís team of management and employees, the best in quality of service and product can be easily obtained. On this 70th Anniversary we would like to express our deepest appreciation to the more than 1,000,000 customers Sure-Fit has served.
